
J. Matthew Pfeiffer graduated from Purdue University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership and Supervision. He obtained his law degree from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2000. Throughout his career, Mr. Pfeiffer has handled a broad range of civil litigation matters for individuals and small- to medium-size business entities in numerous state and federal courts as well as in arbitration and mediation proceedings. Mr. Pfeiffer focuses his practice on commercial litigation; business torts; equitable claims, including proceedings for injunctive relief; construction law; employment disputes; creditors' rights, including commercial and personal loan enforcement, corporate and personal bankruptcies, non-bankruptcy workouts, and reorganizations; contested estates and probate matters; and appellate advocacy.
Mr. Pfeiffer is an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association. Most recently, he has served on ISBA's Civil Practice and Procedure Section Council for the past several years; was the moderator of a panel addressing electronic evidence issues at the prestigious 2011 Allerton Conference; has been a member of the Corporation, Securities, and Business Law Section Council; and has been a member of the ISBA Assembly, the supreme policy-making body of this organization.
Mr. Pfeiffer also has maintained several positions of leadership within the DuPage County Bar Association. He is a past Chair of the Professional Responsibility Committee, the Business Law Committee, and the Law Practice Management Committee. As a member of its Planning Committee, Mr. Pfeiffer also has worked toward the development of a strategic long-term business plan for the DCBA. Mr. Pfeiffer is a past recipient of the Board of Directors Award from the DCBA for outstanding service to this organization.
In addition to his commitments to the aforementioned professional organizations, Mr. Pfeiffer has served as President of the Alumni Council and a member of the Board of Visitors for Northern Illinois University College of Law. He is also rated "AV® Preeminent™" by Martindale-Hubbell, a testament to the fact that his peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence.
