We represent clients in connection with all real estate related aspects pertinent to their acquisition, development, leasing, financing, ownership, and disposition of all types of commercial and residential real estate with various levels of complexity. This representation includes counseling clients with respect to structuring acquisitions to minimize cost and tax expense and maximizing potential after-tax returns. We represent developers of vacant land, condominium developers, owners of commercial, residential, retail, and industrial properties for investment purposes, commercial landlords and tenants, and both lenders and borrowers in connection with construction, permanent, securitized, and mezzanine loans. We have served our clients in connection with the development of several of the largest condominium projects in the City of Chicago and represent numerous condominium associations on a regular basis. The attorneys in the Real Estate Group of the Firm also have extensive experience in the construction industry representing both owners and contractors.

In addition, our experience in representing institutional lenders in documenting real estate and asset-based loans to developers, real estate operators, and manufacturing companies gives us a unique insight into every aspect of a transaction and allows us to offer solutions to problems while taking into account many different facets and disciplines. The variety and depth of our experience allows us to provide legal services tailored to a client’s specific needs on a timely and efficient basis.

Recent Representative Engagements

  • Served as Lender’s counsel in a $10 Million Mezzanine Loan transaction in connection with a "Magnificent Mile" retail development.
  • Representation of a suburban Chicago property owner in assembling multiple parcels including vacant land, a 200,000 square foot office complex, and a parking facility.
  • Representation of a joint venture in the acquisition of a large Class "A" Office Building in California; the transaction involved the creation of numerous single purpose entities and the assumption of an existing REMIC Loan.
  • Representation of a joint venture to successfully bid at a Bankruptcy Court auction of intellectual property and multiple parcels of real estate located in several states.
  • The CMBS financing and sale of one of the largest parking garages in the Chicago Loop.
  • The drafting and negotiation with an international retailer of a build-to-suit on a ground lease parcel on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile.
  • The acquisition of 1,200 acres of land in Arizona for development as a multi-unit residential project.
